Wednesday the 7th of December saw Start Energy’s Christmas at the Darts brought to Newcastle’s O2 Academy.
We all had high expectations of this event and it really did deliver!
All of the big names were there showcasing their skill and talent including:
James ‘The Machine’ Wade
Wayne ‘Hawaii 501’ Mardle
Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams
Tony ‘Silverback’ O’Shea
Simon ‘The Wizard’ Whitlock
Jamie ‘Rasta’ Lewis!
Chris ‘Hollywood’ Dobey
Adam ‘The Hunter’ Hunt
The event allowed us to show our support and acknowledgement for a sport that has always been a passion of many of our staff. It also gave us the perfect opportunity to meet some of our suppliers and business partners, whose attendance was very much appreciated.
One of the highlights of the night was our very own 180 off. This is where 3 suppliers and 3 Start Energy staff went head to head on stage with the aim being to call the best 180 possible. I think it is safe to say that Richard Ashdown, the Master of Ceremonies for the night, felt a little bewildered after hearing what the 6 of them were capable of. In the end the crowd decided that Alex Munnery of Yorkshire Gas & Power was the worthy winner. He is now known by us as Alex ‘The King’ Munnery.
The night ended on a huge high as our very own Pop Robson, our Managing Director’s dad, beat Wayne Mardle with a stunning double 17 to finish!
Overall it was an absolute pleasure to host this event and bring together some of the biggest names across both the BDO and PDC. It’s great to be able to showcase our brand to the local community and we would like to thank everyone who was involved!
